Consistent with Government legislation (www.privacy.gov.au/act/), Copeland College of Massage Therapy endorses fair information handling practices. Any information provided, including identification of individuals, will be used only for the purpose intended and where the intention includes confidentiality, information will be retained as such unless otherwise required by law.

Copeland College of Massage Therapy is committed to protecting the privacy of our students. Students' personal information will not be used in any way that it was not intended to be used, and the data will be held securely.

Information collected and why
Copeland College of Massage Therapy will generally collect personal information about a student by way of forms filled out by students, face-to-face meetings and interviews, and telephone calls.

Personal information is collected and retained on past and present students for the primary purpose of operating Copeland College of Massage Therapy as an Registered Training Organisation.

The college enrolment form generally requests information that identifies students, such as full name and date of birth; and information that enables the college to contact a student such as address, phone numbers, as well as an email address. The college also requests the name, address and phone numbers of an emergency contact.

Use and disclosure
By signing the enrolment form students consent to us using their personal information in the following way. To:

  • Maintain a register of students and lecturers
  • Effectively administer and communicate all services that we provide to students
  • Inform students of relevant internal or external activities, events, promotions or special offers that may be of interest
  • Carry out research, marketing or development of our courses, and services including the surveying of students and lecturers on their needs
  • Provide contact information to enable communication between students and lecturers
How the College treats sensitive information
In referring to 'sensitive information', Copeland College of Massage Therapy means:
  • Information relating to a person's racial or ethnic origin
  • Political opinions
  • Religion
  • Sexual preferences
  • Criminal record
  • Health information about a student
Sensitive information will be used and disclosed only for the purpose for which it was provided or a directly related secondary purpose, unless agreed by the individual, or the use or disclosure of the sensitive information is allowed by law.

Privacy & The Web
Visitor logs are used on this site for statistical purposes only. No attempt will be made to identify specific users or their browsing activity. De-identified data from these logs may be used to update and improve the Copeland College of Massage Therapy site.

Privacy & Email
Personal Identification provided via email to Copeland College of Massage Therapy will only be used to respond to specific queries and will not be added to any mailing lists, nor disclosed to any other party without the recipient's knowledge and consent and as intended, unless required by law.

Management and Security of Personal Information
The College has in place steps to protect the personal information the College holds from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure by use of various methods including locked storage of paper records and security protected access rights to computerised records.

Updating Personal Information
A student may request that their personal information is updated by contacting the Principal or administration staff.

The Right to Check Personal Information
Under the Commonwealth Privacy Act, a student has the right to obtain access to any personal information, which Copeland College of Massage Therapy holds about them.

To access this information students should contact the Principal in writing.
